The Immersion Science program started in 2013 with the idea that kids can and SHOULD do science. Frustrated with existing “exposure to science” programs, Immersion Science founders developed a program based on cutting edge laboratory research conducted at a nationally accredited cancer center. Students learn laboratory basics in the context of testing completely novel hypotheses aimed at understanding how individual components of a balanced diet affect cells. Students in the Immersion Science Teaching Laboratory and students in high school classrooms in the Philadelphia metropolitan area are contributing their discoveries to advanced level scientific publications while learning, authentic laboratory science.
